The annual celebration of the birth of Robert Burns was held at Millbrae on Friday,12th of March,2010.This regular event is very popular and what could be a better setting than Millbrae,a mere stone's throw from the Auld Brig o'Doon.
The evening started with the Beastie being piped in by our club piper,Muir Deans. The Haggis was addressed by oor Chairman,Dr.Brian Scobie ,in his vivacious style.A hearty traditional meal followed ,prepared and served by Mark,Fiona and their staff from Pinewood Restaurant in Prestwick.
Our forwards coach,Pater Lavere, then played the Minstrel and livened the company with community singing before Angus Middleton proposed The Immortal Memory in a first class and most enthralling fashion. His younger brother ,Gordon gave a word perfect rendition of Tam O' Shanter.Further singing and jollity by Peter kept the audience warmed up and appreciative of oor chairman's pithy and witty stories between performances.
The second half continued in hilarity with a side splitting humorous speech by Robert Purdue as he Toasted the Lassies.
Alec Stirrock,a late entry and substitute proposed the Vote of Thanks to all speakers and artistes and oor chairman thanked Alec and the cronies a'.A special thank you to James McLintock for organising the whole shebang and he will have to go far to top this year's Burns Supper.
