Millbrae
Rugby Club was formed in 2006 and entered the West Regional
League in Division 3 for the 2006/7 season. The vast majority
of the players came from what was previously Ayr Rugby Club's
3rd XV. Frustrated with a lack of games and a meaningful
league competition it was decided to strike out on our own as
a club in our own right. After securing several generous
sponsors and with the backing of the ARFC committee Millbrae
entered into its first season. Home games are played at
Millbrae when available or at Rozelle if necessary.
Having won the Division 3
league in its first year,,Millbrae was promoted to the West
Regional League Division 2 for the 2007/8 season. In its
second year Millbrae found the competition a bit tougher in
the 12 team league. Having secured a top half place in the
first part of the competition Millbrae coasted to a fifth
place finish in the league standings. After a semi successful
run in the National Cup competition, having been one victory
away from hosting a Premier 1 team at Millbrae, they bowed out
to Dalziel, a National Division 1 team.
The Millbrae Rugby Club also
enjoys a healthy social side in their balanced approach to
fraternizing, training and playing. With frequent nights out,
annual dinners, overseas tours and 7's and 10's competitions,
there is something for all the players at whatever stage they
are at in their rugby playing careers. |
