Ayr Rugby Academy
The Ayr RFC Rugby Academy has been supporting the development of young athletes for nearly a decade. The Academy has the purpose of supporting players aspiring to enter Scottish Rugby Academies or those who are unable to attend for logistical or personal reasons, ensuring that a performance environment is accessible to all who require it. The program identifies players based not only on their ability but more importantly on their attitude. Currently supporting 70 players across our Junior, Girls and Senior Academy sections, we provide a support network consisting of Technical/Tactical development, Strength & Conditioning, and Nutritional support, as well as workshops on Mental Health, Lifestyle Management and Video Analysis. Players, supported by the coaches, set goals and targets based around their own development plan. We are proud to have supported a number of past and current age grade District and International Players on their journey towards Pro Rugby.
Community Trust
The Ayr Community Rugby Trust (ACRT) obtained charitable status on 1st March 2008.
Ayr Community Rugby Trust is a registered Scottish Charity (SC039365) and as such qualifies for Gift Aid. Any tax paying individual can make a personal donation to the Trust and, provided that a gift aid declaration form is signed, the Trust can then claim 25% of the donation back from HMRC.
Club History
1897 the club was born
As is the case with so many clubs, Ayr’s beginnings stemmed from the boys of a rugby school returning after university or spells abroad and looking to continue playing. So it was that in 1897 the club was born, with Andrew Gray, Angus and Norman Lindsay, Ralston Watt, W McLachlan, David Highet and James Templeton among the founding members who adopted the famous cerise and black colours. Sadly, only Highet returned from the Boer War.
