Ayr Rugby Football Club is pleased to confirm that the club’s Board has approved the upgrade of the floodlighting system at Dam Park Stadium.
Following detailed survey work carried out by the project team, the existing floodlight columns have successfully passed a structural inspection, meaning they can continue to be used as part of the upgrade. The project will now move forward with the installation of modern LED floodlighting on all eight existing columns, along with the installation of a new electrical distribution board to power the system.
The new LED lighting will provide significantly improved illumination across the pitch, creating a much better training and match environment — particularly benefiting the club’s thriving Mini and Youth sections who regularly use the facility throughout the darker months of the season.
Ayr RFC would also like to thank Ayr Community Rugby Trust for their generous contribution towards the capital cost of the project, which has helped make the upgrade possible.
Ayr RFC Chairman Brian Williamson said:
“This investment is really about supporting the next generation of players at Ayr Rugby Club. Our Mini and Youth sections are the lifeblood of the club, and improved lighting at Dam Park will allow them to train and play in a safer and more enjoyable environment throughout the winter months.
We are extremely grateful to Ayr Community Rugby Trust for their financial assistance in helping to fund this project.”
All works are expected to be completed in time for the start of the 2026/27 season.
