Board Update: Ayr RFC Welcomes New Director & Club Secretary : Ayr Rugby Football Club

Ayr Rugby Football Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Carlyn Paton as Club Secretary and a member of the Board of Directors.

Carlyn succeeds Graham Duncan, who has stepped down from his position as Secretary after two years in the role.

The Board would like to place on record its thanks to Graham for the time and effort he has given to the Club during his tenure. We are extremely grateful for his contribution and wish him every success for the future.

We are delighted to welcome Carlyn to the Board at an exciting time in the continued development of Ayr Rugby Club.

Carlyn brings considerable business, financial and leadership experience. After graduating in Economics & Marketing, she began her career in banking before going on to become Joint Managing Director of The Cairnhill Group. She was also co-founder of We hae meat, which has developed into one of Scotland’s leading meat manufacturing businesses.

As Club Secretary, Carlyn will support the Board with the Club’s administration and governance while also taking a particular interest in two areas she is passionate about: player wellbeing and the Club’s long-term financial sustainability.

Carlyn is keen to further strengthen player wellbeing across Ayr RFC, ensuring that players at every level have access to appropriate support both on and off the pitch. She believes that looking after players as individuals, as well as athletes, is an important part of creating a positive and successful club environment.

She will also help the Club explore new and sustainable sources of funding, including developing a more structured approach to charitable funding, identifying opportunities to support community programmes and capital projects, and helping build a sustainable funding pipeline for the future.

Carlyn said:

“I consider it an honour to be invited on to the Board and I look forward to supporting the continued development of the Club both on and off the pitch, from senior and youth rugby through to the wider community programmes that make Ayr Rugby Club such an important part of the local area.”

Brian Williamson, Chairman of Ayr RFC, said:

“On behalf of the Board, I would like to thank Graham for everything he has contributed during his two years as Club Secretary and wish him well for the future.

“At the same time, we’re delighted to welcome Carlyn to the Board. She brings a wealth of business and financial experience, as well as a real enthusiasm for Ayr Rugby Club and what we are trying to achieve.

“There is a huge amount happening at Millbrae, both on and off the pitch, and Carlyn’s experience and ideas will be a real asset as we continue to develop the Club for our players, members and wider community.”
